KATAHGURI College is situated  about 30 Kilometers  away from the main city of Nagaon in Assam. It is exactly situated at village KATAHGURI near Batadrova Than under Dhing PS.KATAHGURI College, the only institution of higher education in thewest of Nagaon District was established in 1988. The college covers a vast agricultural area of Tktuki,Rowmari ,Barwati, Ahomgaon, Amlokhi, Salonabori, Silpukhuri. Sunargaon and Bechamari and so many agricultural remote areas of western Nagaon. A lot of thinkers, social reformers, educationists and distinguished persons of the area untidily established the college for the education and moral development of the society.The college is imparting education to the rural poor society of the locality. This is the only higher educational institution in the area. The institution sets its prime aim to empower and uplift the female students of the society by imparting quality education to them along with the male students.

TheDepartment of Historywas established with the establishment of the College in theyear 1988.Initially the department along with the college was run by the contribution of the local people.. Presently, the College has been provincialised by the government of Assam, since 2021 which helped the management to develop the infrastructure of the college. The Department has its own separate provision of sitting for the faculty members since 2021. The department is alsotaking the additional classes of SEC of the concern subject in 3^rd and 4^th semester since 2019-20 and conducting Field Work project on the subject. The department has a departmental library for the benefit of the students. The department has a separate library for the faculty as well as the students.The department is working to develop the research culture among the student community by organizing different departmental seminars, workshops, symposia and project works.

The Faculties of the department is also engaged in other activities of the college. Motiur Rahman,HOD of the department is a member of Admission Committee, performed the responsibilities ofAOC,Invigilators ,External Evaluator in Gunutsov etc. Aminul Islam the faculty member of the department is engaged as a member of antiraging cell.

Assessment and Evaluation and Feedback

The Department follows the assessment and evaluation process as per the guideline of the Gauhati University. As such midterm examination are conducted in each year. Apart from that the department also arranges group discussion during the course.
