Katahguri College a Single Stream Arts College was established in the year 1988 with a view to impart higher education in the western part of Nagaon and eastern part of Morigaon district. The people of Katahguri and its adjoining area with great enthusiasm and cooperation resolved to establish an Institution of higher education at Katahguri. They established the institution to provide holistic education. The college has come across a long way with more than three decades of eventful history behind it. Even after the emergence of several colleges in the same hinterland, Katahguri College still continues its rich intellectual heritage and academic ethos.

The college has 30 bigas of land. It was affiliated to the Gauhati University in2008  and was brought under provincialisation by the Govt. of  Assam in 2021. Since then the college has showing the marks of progress in all respects to the satisfaction of the students and guardians. The serene beauty and its green surroundings has made the college a conducive environment to study.

With the full fledged stream of Arts General and Major course in all the departments Katahguri College continues to add new features in its cap so far is academic excellence is concerned. The College has been implementing the choice Based Credit System (CBCS) since 2019 in its undergraduate courses. From the current academic session the college has been gearing up to implement  NEP 2020.
