DEPARTMENT PROFILE : EDUCATION

Introduction::

The Department of Education , which was established in 1988 along with the college. The department has been serving the student community of the society. It offers under graduate courses under Gauhati University. The department had got GuahatiUniversity affiliation in 2009. Finally the college has been provincialized in 2021.

The present teaching staff of the Department:

(1) Razzakul Al- Amin Fakir.
(2) Shamim Khanam (HOD).
(3) Md. Ikbal Bahar Chowdhury.

Mission of the Department::

To gather knowledge about the educational concept, philosophy, history, psychology, technology, values along with the current issues in indian education system. To makes the students interested for higher studies. Moreover the department has been trying its best to attract the students to the occupation in teaching line and to be a skill teacher. All faculty members always try to create environment of friend, philosopher, and guide between teachers and students of the colleges.

Vision of the Department ::

To provide students with a value-based, career-focused, and quality-based education while enabling them to engage competently and effectively in their personal and communal lives through a rigorous curriculum.

Aims and Objectives of Education Department.:

• The main aims and objectives of the department is to makes students interested for higher studies. Moreover the department has been trying its best to attract the students to the occupation in teaching line and to be a skill teacher.

• To gather knowledge about the concept, aims and principles of education.

• To promote employment opportunities among the students.

• All faculty members always try to create an environment of friend, Philosopher and guide between teachers and students of the College.

• To develop reading habit among faculty members and students it has been made mandatory to visit library regularly.

• To organized lectures, Seminars, Workshop & Group Discussion etc. on various topics related with concerned department in the college as well as departmental level.

Admission Policy:

The admission process has been undertaken by the admission committee constituted as per guideline of the college authority.

Action Plan

The department takes a lot of measure to increase the enrolment and makes students result better.

• Counselling : Counselling is considered to be key aspect of department for smooth running of the teaching learning process . In the very beginning of the new session induction programme has been undertaken by all department of the college . The Purpose of Student Induction Programme is to help new students adjust and feel comfortable in the new environment, inculcate in them the ethos and culture of the institution, help them build bonds with other students and faculty members. Remedial Classes has been initiated for the slow learners selecting on the basis of their performance in the internal assessment.

• Financial and psychological support have been provided to the needy students.

• Class Allotment : Every year a departmental meeting has been organized by the department of education. In this meeting the course has been distributed equally among the faculty members paperwise. It is also mention that in every academic session the topic of the paper of faculty members has to be changed. The HOD presides over the departmental annual meeting.

• Various departmental seminars and group discussion , assignment and project work have been practiced by the department for all round enrichment of the students.

• Detection of slow Learners and steps taken for them

• Admission of student is done in the college based on the academic performance of other previous examination.

• Slow learners are identified on the basis of classroom interaction, assignments and the performance of the sessional exam.

4. BA ( Under KKHSOU )
5. MA in Education (Under KKHSOU)
6. MA in Education (Under GUCDOE)
7. One month Certificate course

Strength:

• Experienced faculty.

• Offer certificate course.

• Pass percentage of our department is about 95% which is above average pass percentage of our college and the university.

Weakness:

• The department has only four (3) faculty members.

• The departmental library has inadequate number of Books.

• Inadequate classroom facilities.

• No computer with internet facility.

• Teacher pupil ratio is very high.

Future Plan of the Department:

• To organize National Seminar

• To publish annual departmental Magazine

• To create awareness about the environmental related issues.

• To prepare the students to become a good Teacher in future.

• To develop democratic values among the students.

Teaching method::

Lecture method and ppt presentation, Group discussion, Home Assignment , Project-based method & Laboratory experiments.
